Boosting mental hygiene in COVID-19

COVID-19 pandemic has caused a profound effect on one’s mental state. No one would have ever imagined this condition hitting massively to humans causing a state of distress, anxiety and depression which is a more serious threat affecting to mankind. This article surely would not be addressing the number of affected people or covid conditions globally, since we already have much of it in the air .Here are few points which can be helpful to cope up with the current situation related to pandemic and maintain a healthy state of mind. These are already known and many of us must be already following. We have just re-visited them in this article.

  1. Accept and adapt yourself to the current situation: Acceptance is the first important consideration to be done by human race today. If we can’t change the situation we need to accept the same and move ahead. This would surely help us to reduce much of the negativeness rolling around and the struggle one has to go through.
  2. Sleep and Exercise: Sleep is the source of energy. Having a sound sleep reduces stress, improves memory, lower blood pressure and sugar levels. Exercise helps to reduce weight and improves mental health and mood. It improves judgment, learning and thinking skills.
  3. Stay Connected: Connect with friends and family at times and express yourself. Refresh old memories. Schedule regular video calls, join online forums etc. By connecting to people we certainly understand that there are plenty of them who are already going through their own challenges.
  4. Drop your worries:Sometimes it’s just worth to not to think anything. Write down what you feel is distressing you. Approach your near one’s and discuss what is disturbing. Sometimes speaking what you feel would make you more strong and relaxed.Just speak up!
  5. Make a check on your routine:
  • Organize which was not organized before.
  • Mental Refraining
  • Get aware of your emotions
  • Try out things not done before.

6. Stay Positive and learn to accept uncertainty : Uncertainty is all around. We can’t keep worrying about things all the time.The ‘but-if, what –if’ can be stressful. We face uncertainty in our daily life, health and relations since we are not aware about our future. Uncertainty is already present in our life right from our birth. If we keep thinking about our future we would lose our present moments.

7. Be kind and take care of yourself: If you have changes in mood, sleeping habits, appetite and weight or have difficulty in functioning or concentrating then surely reach out to your healthcare provider for support.
